South Korea’s National Intelligence Service held a June 17 briefing for KISIA member security companies on North Korean cyber threat trends and recent attack cases. NIS warned that North Korean operators are increasingly targeting domestic security products and described a software supply-chain pattern in which attackers compromise security-company servers, steal source code, find vulnerabilities, and abuse developer or update-server access to distribute malware. The service urged vendors to harden product security and supply-chain controls because trusted security software can become an entry point into private companies, government agencies, and critical infrastructure.
