South Korea's Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office charged two data-recovery business operators accused of colluding with hackers who deployed Magniber ransomware. Prosecutors said the hackers encrypted victims' files and shared ransomware timing and extension information with selected recovery firms, allowing those firms to capture victims searching for help. The defendants allegedly extorted about 2.6 billion won from 730 victims by advertising around infected-file extensions and steering victims into paid recovery arrangements.
