BTC Turk suffered a $51.7 million hot-wallet theft in August 2025 after private keys were reportedly compromised, repeating a similar $55 million breach from June 2024. The attackers moved assets across Ethereum, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Mantle, Polygon, and Bitcoin, then rapidly swapped more than 90 token types into liquid ETH through MetaMask. Blockchain firms cited in the source tracked consolidation into several EVM wallets and a Bitcoin address holding 33.247 BTC, with the attackers still sitting on much of the visible on-chain haul days later. The incident matters for crypto-security monitoring because it shows how weak hot-wallet key management can enable fast multi-chain theft even when exchanges later freeze deposits and withdrawals.
