Merkle Science analyzes the June 2022 Harmony Horizon bridge exploit, in which roughly $100 million in assets including WETH, SUSHI, AAVE, DAI, USDT, and USDC were stolen from bridge infrastructure. The attacker swapped stolen tokens into ETH, broke more than 18,000 ETH into smaller amounts, and routed about 85,700 ETH from 14 linked addresses into Tornado Cash’s 100 ETH contract. Merkle Science then identified 148 suspected withdrawal addresses, seven with outgoing transactions, and observed chain hopping through Bitcoin, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, RenVM, and Multichain before funds reached exchanges. The source mentions Lazarus only as context for the separate Ronin bridge case, so this summary does not attribute the Horizon exploit to DPRK actors.
