North Korean hackers were accused in an OFSI-referenced assessment of stealing about £17m in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrency from Lykke, a trading platform incorporated in Britain. The article says Lazarus was identified as a potential culprit by OFSI-related reporting and separately blamed by Whitestream, while noting that other researchers dispute whether the attacker can currently be determined. Lykke halted operations after the theft, later shut down, and was ordered into liquidation after affected customers pursued legal action. The case matters because, if confirmed, it would be North Korea’s largest known cryptocurrency heist targeting Britain and would fit broader reporting that DPRK cyber theft funds military and nuclear programs.
