Tracking the Stolen Assets from the Liquid Exchange Hacking: Laundering Process, Exchanges…
2021-08-30 • Uppsala Security •
Liquid Exchange lost about $90 million after its warm wallets were compromised, with stolen assets spanning Bitcoin, Ethereum, TRON, XRP, and multiple ERC-20 tokens. Uppsala Security traced the Ethereum-side flow through 25 wallets grouped as initial, swapping, storage, exchange, and laundering wallets. The attacker swapped tokens through services including 1inch, Uniswap, and SushiSwap, consolidated Ether back through the main wallet, and sent funds toward Tornado Cash. A smaller portion reached centralized exchanges, including Huobi and Bilaxy, where specific VIDY, FSN, and LND transfers were observed.
