The U.S. Justice Department indicted two North Korean nationals and three alleged facilitators for a remote IT worker scheme that obtained jobs at at least 64 U.S. companies from 2018 to 2024. Prosecutors allege the defendants used forged and stolen identity documents, pseudonymous accounts, proxy computers, and U.S.-based laptop farms to make North Korean workers appear locally employed. Payments from ten companies generated at least $866,255, most of which was laundered through a Chinese bank account, and the case was brought under the DPRK RevGen domestic enabler initiative.
