South Korea's National Intelligence Service reported a large DDoS campaign on July 7 targeting 26 major South Korean and U.S. websites, including the Blue House, Ministry of National Defense, and White House. Analysis of recovered malware found embedded IP addresses for the 26 targets and traffic-generation behavior that caused access disruptions on major domestic sites. The government raised the national cyber crisis alert level, shared samples and analysis with KISA and antivirus vendors, coordinated with ISPs and U.S. investigators, and dispatched specialists for incident response. The report says about 12,000 domestic PCs and 8,000 overseas PCs were abused in the attack, while government document leakage or operational paralysis was not observed.
